Madoka Movie Marathon Recap

Madoka Movie Marathon Recap

Because this is technically a blog, I’m going to take advantage of the fact I can post anything I damn well please and suddenly start making a blog post about real life.

My school’s anime club (after intense weeks of negotiations, AKA me whining a lot) held a movie marathon last night, playing all three Madoka Magica movies. It was a very fun time!

I had to make this image because the poster that I made and hung up in at least ten different buildings across campus had a different room number since we switched to a bigger one. I am sharing this with you because of my intense level of artistic talent in drawing Madoka Kaname over there.

The main thing I wanted to share though was that I got to watch Madoka Magica: The Rebellion for… I think the fifth time. I saw it in theaters with three friends and a hundred other people, all seeing it for the first time, and that itself was one of my most memorable moviegoing experiences ever. However, this time, there was a group of about ten people (most people left by the middle of the second movie because apparently marathons just aren’t for pussies, yo), and only one other person who was there had seen it before. So it was an amazing watch as well, because I got to see the simultaneous reactions of a whole bunch of people, several of whom had also seen the other movies for the very first time just prior.

The Rebellion is still one of my favorite films of all time, and it is absolutely superb on every level. But just like the main series, showing it to other people for the first time is also a very fun meta-level pastime of mine. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out, and also you aren’t ready for when I start posting a bunch of really intense essays about the movie and it starts getting really annoying because you’re like, “Damn, girl, I get it already. There’s a lot of really neat stuff in this movie.” And I’m like, “Did you notice the part where the camera angle suddenly flashed over to troll with the audience?” And then you just start walking away because you know I’m about to write several hundred words about that two-second camera shot.

(Lazy copypaste image from my AWA post because I forgot to take any pictures at the marathon itself)

Also, I had a couple binders left over from when I was giving out stuff for AWA, so three random people took my last remaining books for The Madoka Series (read it). Hopefully all three of those people eventually read Kuttsukiboshi x Madoka Magica because I don’t think anyone else will :'(
